The limited original, eight-episode series Lisey’s Story, by the creator and executive producer Stephen King will have its debut in the middle of the year on Apple TV+. J.J. Abrams is the executive producer, and Chilean Pablo Larraín is the director and Executive Producer. The actress Julianne Moore stars and produces.

In the context of the TCA’s (TV Critics Association) winter press tour, Apple TV+ presented a panel with King, Abrams, Larrain, and Moore; the actor Clive Owen and Ben Stephenson, Executive Producer.

King, who was in charge of the adaptation of his piece for TV, mentioned this is a very personal and deep story for him. The idea of the play arose when he was returning from a three-week stay in the hospital due to severe pneumonia and he found that his office was empty because his wife Tabi was remodeling it. “I thought this is what that room would look like when I am no longer in this world,” he said.

Lisey’s Story is a deeply personal thriller that follows Lisey Landon (played by Moore) two years after her husband’s death. He is the famous novelist Scott Landon (played by Owen). A series of unsettling events makes Lisey face memories of her marriage with Scott which she has deliberately blocked from her mind.

Abrams and King have collaborated on several projects before. The series is produced by Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions and Warner Bros. Television.
