María Jesús Pérez, International Channel Sales director at RTVE, announced in the context of Jornadas (Buenos Aires, Argentina) that they are in conversations with different pay TV operators in the region to place their channels Clan and Star TV.

Clan is the channel with children’s programming, and Star is an entirely HD channel that airs original production series as well as co-productions with other European companies.

“Clan is already successful in the region. It is currently being distributed in Movistar and Colombia and we are closing agreements in other countries such as Costa Rica, Panama, and Mexico. We are also going to close deals soon here in Argentina and in Uruguay” informed Pérez.

Pérez assured that despite having a great deal of competition in the children’s market, they are going to have their space, thanks to the quality of their contents and how innovative their productions are. These contents haven’t reach Latin America until now. “Most of our productions have never been seen in Latin America, only a small percentage. The rest is new products, very good and well-chosen for the channel’s target”.

“The Argentinean market is very big and powerful. It is difficult because it is very mature, there is a great deal of competition and it is not easy to penetrate. The good thing is that our brand is already well-known and we will surely see it here soon. For Star it might be a bit harder, but it will have its place” concluded Pérez.
