According to HR Ratings Media, in 2016 the open TV audience in the Valley of Mexico favored Televisa telenovelas, while TV Azteca was the leader in Latin American series such as
Hasta Que Te Conocí and realities like
MasterChef. In telenovelas, Televisa topped the list with
Antes Muerta que Lichita, the most watched, by an average of 3.3 million people, followed by
La Vecina, with 2.9, and
A Que No Me Dejas, with 2.7. TV Azteca was also a leader thanks to productions like
Hasta Que Te Conocí, which reached an average of 2.3 million people, and
Celia, with 1.4 million. Televisa’s Por Siempre Joan Sebastian reached 1.9 million in its opening season.
Realities continued to be the audience’s favorite shows, who placed
La Voz… Mexico at the top, with 2.7 million people who saw it in average per season, followed by
MasterChef Junior Mexico, with 2.6 million, and
MasterChef Mexico, with 2.4 million
; however, the final episode of
MasterChef Junior Mexico (July 3) was the most watched, reaching 3.5 million people. On the other hand, the final episode of MasterChef Mexico (December 18) reached 2.7 million people and the final episode of
La Voz… Mexico (July 31) was watched by more than 2.3 million people.
The Mexican films
No Se Aceptan Devoluciones, Amores Perros and
El Señor Doctor were the most watched in open TV during 2016.
