In the presence of the actors Jaime Camil and Andrea Navedo, Lifetime presented in Mexico City the series Jane The Virgin (22x60'), starring Gina Rodríguez. It is an adaptation of the Venezuelan telenovela Juana La Virgen, that will be launched next Thursday November 19th at 9pm exclusively for all Latin America. Camil, who interprets Rafael del Monte, stated that one of the main differences between this series and other production with Latin American talent is that “in Jane The Virgin the producer isn't caricaturing Latinos in the US, but simply showing our Latino heritage. They know perfectly well how to bring and translate Latino formats to the US market", he commented. To continue with this topic, Navedo, who plays the role of Xiomara, confessed that her interpretation of the character is inspired in her grandmother and in her Puerto Rican roots: “In the US we haven't had the opportunity to see a product that depicts Latinos positively. I am proud to be part of the program to show my family and what we have accomplished”. Finally, César Sabroso, senior Marketing VP at A+E Networks Latin America, said that beyond being stories of Latino origin, “what's most important is to make entertainment. In Lifetime we are proud of having series like Jane The Virgin and Devius Maids, that already speak in a single, multi-platform world and stand out internationally”. The director highlighted that at the end of this first season, it will reach platforms like Netflix and afterwards will continue with the broadcast of the second part.
