Luz Marina Arango, president of Andina Link, opened the 28th edition, in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, highlighting the three key core ideas that will be discussed during the three days of the event: the networks evolution, smart cities and audiovisual networking.

“Regarding the network’s evolution, we realized that the world has changed, the digital evolution that was expected to take place in a decade happened in only two years. Remote work is here to stay. And access to the Internet is no longer considered a value-added service, it has become an essential service, being as important as electricity and water”, said Arango.

Regarding smart cities, she highlighted that all telecommunications operators have an important business. “We need an open and frank dialogue between local and regional government, civil society and private companies in order to develop these smart cities.”

She celebrated that initiatives such as Latinscreens organized by PAC (Colombian Audiovisual Promotion) will take place at Andina Link, where 62 content producers are expected to be negotiating, seeking alliances, proposing co-productions and content exchange. “This space will be reinforced by a robust academic agenda. The content has become very important and here it has a great opportunity to reach the whole world” she concluded.
