According to Colin Petrie-Norris, CEO of Xumo TV, AVOD (Advertising Video On Demand) is the area of streaming that is growing. Petrie-Norris took part in a talk on Fierce Video´s OTT Blitz Week

“There is no friction for the consumer using the service, there is no need to conduct follow-up and no hesitations. Services like ours do well. What we have is a sort of search engine to find channels that consumers didn’t know existed,” he comments.

The platform already has around 700 channels between linear ones and on-demand, and it is entirely free.

From the point of view of advertising sales, Petrie-Norris highlights that the platform is very addressable since it is digital. “Advertisers are enjoying the accountability we offer, the transparency of what they can obtain for their advertising investment,” he points out.

He detailed that the platform is handled by only five people in Operations, channels are selected in real-time based on users´ behavior. He highlighted that they were able to easily carry out the transition to remote management in the last three months.

“The integration with Comcast has been decisive. We have been part of the launch of Peacock from the start. We have more than 200 content partners. We offer the user plenty of options,” he added.

For the future, the executive distinguishes two types of players on AVOD: big ones and niche platforms such as the ones in the Latino market.
