After rumors about a crisis in Azteca, where it is said that the company lost 40% of its value in the past year, as well as a 5.4% interannual decrease in advertising sales, Elisa Salinas, director of Azteca Novelas assured this week on the program Todo para la Mujer on Radio Fórmula Mexico that, as opposed to a crisis, in the telenovelas division, they are making a change in programming, increasing production and creating a mini-series in the aim to have a differentiated offer.”We are going to start producing mini-series with original stories and produced in Azteca Novelas and will continue with the commercial commitments we have with Brazil, specifically with Globo, with whom we have a three year agreement to continue selling cans to them, which they alternate with niche telenovelas, a bit alternative at 9pm, that has worked out fine for us”, she commented. She announced the beginning of the production of stories like Tanto Amor, last week in Queretaro, which will be aired starting August 3rd. Two other telenovelas that are in preparation are La Promesa with Rafa Urióstegui and Tierra de Reinas with Rafael Gutiérrez. Finally she said that the production of telenovelas will not cease, on the contrary, “it will be complemented with mini-series, we will continue producing. This year, Azteca has had more debuts than ever”.
