Discop Miami 2023 will be held at the Grand Beach Hotel between January 31 and February 2. The organizers, Basic Lead, have already signed a contract with the hotel and are working to get the event up and running in the 100 days that lie ahead. They expect a market of 700 participants between distributors, producers, and buyers. Online registration will open on November 14.

The format entails exhibitors in suites, without conferences, focused on business meetings, and with the presence of new clients, different from those who go to Cancun.

“We decided to announce this market in Miami with a dynamic that we control, bringing in countries that we feel are new clients and scaling the market. We have talked to our customers in Turkey, India, and Europe and also to new countries we cover in Africa and the Middle East and there is a lot of interest in this market. We want to bring countries that have never been able to come to this part of the world and reinforce the US’s status as the number one entertainment market in the world,” said Patrick Zuchowicki Jucaud, General Manager of Basic Lead.

He also highlighted that today there are more opportunities than ever for foreign companies and that they are talking to NAB to revive the syndication business.

Basic Lead is also interested in buying back the Budapest fair, where so many Latin Americans have gone to sell telenovelas, which sold to Natpe a decade ago. The idea is to reissue it as Discop Europe in June 2023.
