Canal 22 Internacional premieres the dance reality show, Ópera Prima en Movimiento. The series follows 20 dance hopefuls who believe they have what it takes to be the best in ballet. Throughout eight weeks of competition, audiences will witness the extreme dedication, training and grilling exercises that the dancers must put themselves through in order to be the best. After a weekly elimination process, jury members will select eight finalists who will take part in a final gala on May 29 at the Palacio de Bellas Artes. The Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (Fonca) will award grants to the top four finalists. Viewers will also be able to interact with the program and its participants live every Sunday at 7pm PT/ 9pm CT through a variety of social network platforms and can follow the daily activities of the dancers at {www.canal22.org.mx/operaprima}. The series is produced by the Secretaría de Educación Pública, the Consejo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (CONACULTA) through Canal 22, and the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes (INBA). In 2010, Canal 22 Internacional successfully launched the first opera-based reality show in Mexico with Opera Prima: the Voices of the Bicentenary. The series was a cultural phenomenon and catapulted opera into the spotlight once again. In 2011 they are going to do the same for ballet. Canal 22 Internacional is currently broadcasted in the U.S. on DirecTV, AT&T, Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Charter, Grande and Wave Broadband.
