Caracol Televisión started shooting La Reina de Indias, the ambitious superseries that reconstructs the Spanish conquest to tell a powerful love story that will lead the content offer Caracol Internacional will present in the LA Screenings this year.

Lisette Osorio, International Sales VP at Caracol Television, stated: “Once again we are risking to travel in time to bring to our markets a passional legend that conveys all the ardor of the period of the conquest. A risky story that will speak a universal language: love, disputes and the exquisite mixing of cultures that gave place to the world as we know it today."

The Spanish actor Emmanuel Esparza will be Pedro de Heredia, and Essined Rivera Aponte, La India Catalina, in this story written by Johnny Ortiz, and directed by Camilo Villamizar and Juan Carlos Vásquez.

La Reina de Indias will be shot 100% in outdoors, in 4K quality with a cinematic view, with locations in the Caribbean, like the mythical Sierra Nevada from Santa Marta, the banks of the Magdalena river, and Palomino.

Its producer, Asier Aguilar, stated: “We will depict one of the first loves that occurred in America between an Indian girl and a Spaniard. A fiction inspired in two real-life characters, with the great challenge of recreating the period of the conquest. We are working with indigenous and artisan cultures that will enrich the staging."
