Urbaneja: Novelas are no longer traditional

Silvana Sin Lana (120×60’), adaptation of the Chilean Pituca Sin Lucas from Mega Chile, is the sixth realization that Carmen Cecilia Urbaneja, senior VP for Scripted Production at Telemundo Studios, supervises for the network. Aside from Silvana Sin Lana, Urbaneja has done Pasión Prohibida, Santa Diabla, En Otra Piel, Tierra de Reyes and ¿Quién es quién?“Telemundo has evolved with the market. In everything Telemundo does, innovation is always in mind. For example, we are considering Silvana a romantic comedy. Novelas are no longer traditional. We aim for them to be very up-to-date from the script on, including stories, scenes, conception, design. In the product we do in Telemundo, our main concern is for our programs to be modern, and I think we achieve that very well,” expressed Urbaneja. As for Silvana Sin Lana, production that Telemundo is currently developing in Miami, she expressed that they have a wonderful cast, with Maritza Rodríguez in the role of Silvana and Carlos Ponce, together with the first actress Adriana Barraza. “We are certainly making a very nice story for the 9pm schedule. One of the things I like is that it is a very positive story, where the bad guys don’t exist,” she mentioned. As for Adriana Barraza’s participation, she said that it is “an honor and a delight” to work with her. “As well as being a great actress, she is a wonderful comedian. In this character I think she offers us the best she has ever done,” she said.
