Chivas TV is the new OTT offer, launched on July 1st by the Club Deportivo Guadalajara soccer team, that will have exclusive material to air before, during and after each match. That is what José Luis Higuera, CEO of Grupo Omnilife and Chivas TV, said. He highlighted that they are developing series and also airing interviews with the players, among other contents.“We have more than 20 million fans in Mexico and we also have audiences in the US, where we will arrive upon closing the deal with Univision in two years. It is a long-term bet, but we are certain that we will make a complete change in the way soccer matches are broadcast. This sport is a business and we must give it the value it deserves. Here, you pay for being live,” he explained.Higuera assured that the business model will be developed gradually, however, “our fans must understand that the Mexico where everything was free has ended. We cannot have a team that continues on TV leaving profits we never see.”The broadcast of the first soccer match will take place next July 23rd through the Internet page and the app. To end, he said that in a few days a national summon will be launched to find the 30 sports chroniclers that will participate in the broadcast of the local games of Las Chivas.
