Disney announces Santa Evita produced by Salma Hayek and directed by Rodrigo García

The Walt Disney Company Latin America announced the production of Santa Evita, a new original series on the mythical Argentinean first lady Eva Perón, and the rugged journey of her embalmed body after her death in 1952.

Based on the homonymous best seller by the Argentinean writer Tomás Eloy Martínez, the new eight-episode series will be produced by the Mexican actress Salma Hayek, who has had a successful career as a producer with her company Ventanarrosa, and it will be directed by the Colombian filmmaker Rodrigo García, son of the Literature Nobel Prize winner Gabriel García Márquez, who has taken part in outstanding series such as Six Feet Under, In Treatment and The Affair.

The shooting of Santa Evita, that will take place in different locations in Buenos Aires, Argentina, will start in 2020 in co-production with Non Stop. It will arrive at the screens of Latin America in 2021. Soon, the cast will be announced.
