Televisa will premiere on its PM block on Channel 5, the first season of Gossip Girl Acapulco, co-produced by El Mall and Warner Brothers. Pedro Torres, president of El Mall, said at a press conference this past November 5th, that this production furthers the company’s goal of bringing high-quality content to broadcast TV in Mexico.“We believe broadcast TV needs a different kind of content, with quality and in film format. The Mexican audience deserves quality and PM is a window that offers that and is bringing a new character to broadcast TV,” said Torres. He emphasized the success it had on Telehit and now on UniMás in the U.S., “where we’re beating by 45% the series that previously aired in that time slot. For us it’s important that it takes place in Acapulco, because we want to highlight and promote the beauty of Mexico in other countries where it currently airs, such as Chile and Spain,” he added. Also a producer, Torres announced they are already working on the second season, which will start shooting in February 2014 and will premiere in the second half of 2014.Gossip Girl Acapulco will premiere on Channel 5’s PM, this coming Monday, November 11th at 10pm. It’s produced by Pedro Torres, Andrés Tovar and Juan Pablo Ybarra, and stars Sofía Sisniega, Oka Giner, Macarena Achaga, Margarita Muñoz and Vadhir Derbez.
