For three years, Jessica Rodríguez, who has more than 20 years of experience in traditional and digital media, and who was until recently Content Acquisitions VP for Netflix in Latin America and its division TV Global, opened her own OTT consulting company, Riehl Insights.
“I offer planning services on how to launch a channel or OTT service in Latin America and in other parts of the world,” she explained. If it is a company that already has a presence in OTT, but wants to expand into other markets, Rodríguez offers distribution services to MVPDs, telcos and other platforms, and helps with the negotiation and content strategy as well.
She also helps companies sell their content to Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, and other OTT services due to her knowledge on the standards that these companies handle in the US. Additionally, she advises global types of businesses, “if Netflix or Amazon want to make a global content purchase, she helps them with the negotiation and the evaluation of content”.
She comments that lately, she has focused a great deal on distribution because it is important not only to have a direct to consumer product but also offer access at all levels. “Conversations with cable operators, MVPDs, and telcos, are very important because they are turning into SVOD content or service aggregators,” she highlights.
Her clients include Acorn TV that is expanding its presence towards Latin America.
She has clients that are dedicated to the Latin American market and one that is from the US, whom she helps globally.
