One of the Spaniards´ big contributions in the Americas has been their experience in the adaptation of international formats in the Hispanic market in the US. This is the impression Daniel Cubillo, creative executive of Badabun, has.

Cubillo, who has participated in the realization of several competition formats in US Hispanic, such as La Voz for Telemundo and ¡Mira Quién Baila!, as well as Nuestra Belleza Latina for Univision and Rica, Famosa, Latina from Estrella TV, comments: “In Spain, for many years we have been adapting international formats that have not yet been produced, especially in US Hispanic. The big talent programs were first adapted in Spain, Argentina, and Colombia. After this, in Mexico,” he said. He highlighted that the Spanish contribution began between 2010 and 2011.

La Voz is one of those examples in which the format creator, the Dutch, and NBC executives had to validate the person who adapted La Voz to the Hispanic market. That is why my name came up and they validated me: ‘fine, we are going to adapt the format, we are doing it with Daniel’. That trust came from years of working with them,” he explained.

“I think Spaniards have brought a great deal of demand and perception, we are aiming for the best results and are very demanding with the product. Spanish TV has very high standards we want to maintain, to do it well,” he ended.
