Former National Geographic colleagues launch international screening portal ProgramBuyer.com

Edwina Thring and Roz Parker, experienced TV sales executives and former colleagues at National Geographic Television International, have joined forces to launch ProgramBuyer.com, a non-transactional, multi-genre aggregation and screening site, designed for global buyers and sellers of TV programming.

Ian Jones, former CEO of broadcaster S4C and president of National Geographic Television International, is on board as non-executive director.

ProgramBuyer.com, which will officially go live during the third quarter of 2018, has 55 distributors from around the world already signed-up, including big players such as Kew Media Distribution and DRG in the UK, Televisa in Mexico, Mondo TV in Italy, Off the Fence in the Netherlands, Lagardère Studios Distribution and Millimages in France and Nordic World in Scandinavia.

In addition, numerous other independent distributors of all sizes, and covering all genres, have signed-up, attracted by a subscription-based service that gives them an additional route to extend their reach to buyers. ProgramBuyer.com is a free service for buyers and will launch with in excess of 25,000 hours of content on the site.

Edwina Thring comments: “We devised ProgramBuyer as a simple connected solution: buyers will now be able to source content from a single destination and sellers can easily get their entire catalogue in front of every type of buyer, ranging from those at traditional linear broadcasters to the rapidly growing number of new entrants seeking content for digital channels, OTT and SVOD platforms.”

Roz Parker adds: “ProgramBuyer.com will not be taking anyone’s job; buyers and sellers will still need to talk to do business. Instead, we are offering another channel to support content marketing, in order to generate leads and facilitate introductions.”
