The OTT platform Hulu has had a direct presence in the U.S. Hispanic market since December of 2011, with Univision as its launch partner. Univision’s Novelas Xpress is part of the content that can be accessed through Hulu Latino. “We are proud of what we’ve achieved so far. There is great growth potential in the U.S. Hispanic market. That’ why we are here and hope to become the main destination for Latino content in the U.S.,” told PRODU Rodrigo Mazón, director of Content Acquisitions of Hulu. The company recently decided to launch the first season of its original series The Awesomes, in Spanish with a great cast of Latino stars. The series already has two seasons in the general market and a third season is in the making. Hulu will premiere this year Los Cowboys (10x30’), produced by Corral 360. It also has another original series, East Los High, featuring a many Latinos in its cast. The first season launched in mid-2013 and the second in July of 2014, both meeting with great success. A third season is already commissioned. “I came to Hulu because I feel there are huge opportunities in this market. We believe the young audience, the millennials, are underserved. We see this market as a strategic priority. We’re constantly looking for quality content. We seek more partnerships with Hispanic channels in the U.S. In addition to Univision, we have agreements with partners in Latin America, such as Caracol, Venevisión, Globo TV, and RCTV Internacional, among others,” said Mazón.
