Viviana Dirolli, manager of Promotion of Audiovisual Production at the Instituto Nacional de Cine y Artes Audiovisuales (Incaa), mentioned during the Film Week at the Cannes Festival on Ventana Sur in Buenos Aires, that Argentinean films have great acceptance in the international market, particularly in festivals.

“There is an acknowledgment of national cinema that is the result of carrying out a public policy sustained in time for five decades now. This is the result mainly of the restructuring of the promotion fund since 1994 and the sustained accompaniment of the financing of films throughout all those years.”

She comments that Ventana Sur along with being an important platform for the world and for all Latin America is “a space that is here to cover a need, that is the one Argentinean productions and films have to connect and be in touch with the world,” with buyers, sellers, and co-producers. Just for the first day, she mentioned, 2000 people registered, joining the 3000 pre-registered ones.

Regarding the platform Cine.ar, she said it has access at a global scale and has “a series of content that is exclusively for local IPs, but most of it, 80% of the content, can be accessed internationally and the platform is proof that people watch Argentinean cinema.”
