Marcelo Liberini, COO of Mundo Gaturro

Marcelo Liberini, COO of Mundo Gaturro, revealed to PRODU that for the first time, the company will be heading to Natpe to present the animated series Gaturro. The show is comprised of three-minute comedy episodes for children, produced by Hook Up Animation. Liberini explained that the famous cartoon began as a political comic in the daily La Nación in the mid-90s, and was created by Nik, a young talented illustrator. The comic soon had a version adapted for children. Years later, the comic has had much success in the sale of comic books and books. “We incorporated ourselves in the project in 2009, and in 2012 we launched the virtual world for kids Mundo Gaturro, which was an immediate success. Also that year we launched the 3D animated movie” he continued. It was in 2011 that the regional expansion of the virtual Gaturro world developed, and in 2012, a Portuguese version was launched. Mundo Gaturro is now available in Chile, Peru, Colombia, Mexico, Spain and Brazil. “Our intention in 2013 is to consolidate ourselves in Latin America. The Hispanic market of the U.S. also interests us, but we don’t know whether to release it in English or Spanish because the Hispanic kids there speak English” he explained. In respect to the animated series, he added that the objective is to have it ready for the second half of 2013. The idea is that the company will commercialize it in the markets it’s already present in and then expand to other regions.
