Six Live Saturday-afternoon baseball games featuring Los Sultanes de Monterrey, playing at their home field Estadio Mobil Super, are on tap from Mexico’s Multimedios Television, a 50 percent owner of Los Sultanes.
Interest in Mexican baseball is on the upswing thanks to the country’s recent hosting of league play during the 2017 World Baseball Classic, which drew sellout crowds and excellent TV ratings.
Los Sultanes are managed by Félix Fermín, the former Cleveland Indians shortstop who played 10 seasons in the majors. The team features an exciting roster including starting pitcher Édgar González who formerly played with the Arizona Diamondbacks and is enjoying one of the best years of his career; and former Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Chris Roberson who put down roots in Mexico and became a standout performer for his adoptive country at this year’s World Baseball Classic.
Multimedios leads the ratings with its fresh lineup of programs, including …SNSerio (9:30-11:45pm Thursday), a fast-paced live show featuring interviews with Mexican artists and celebrities, along with information and contests.
Host Ernesto Chavana continues to draw in viewers with his new concept Es Show (9:30-11:45pm Monday-Tuesday) an unpredictable, wild variety program with sidekicks Anel, Humberto Garza, and the luchador Konan Big. It's unscripted TV at its best.
Other recent additions to the lineup are Premios Fama (Fame Awards, noon-2pm Saturday), a tongue-in-cheek amateur contest show; and Adivigana (Guess/Win, 9:30-10:30pm Wednesday), a freewheeling game show featuring regular folks and special guests.
Premiering soon is a second season of Multimedios' captivating dance-reality program Bailadísimo.
