Two executives who assumed their respective positions in the midst of the pandemic last year, Rola Bauer, president of International for MGM, and Christina Davis, president of Original Programming at Starz, shared their vision on international co-productions in the current market on the panel The Big Opening: Is Co-pro The Way To Go?.

Bauer highlighted the importance of storytelling, of the emotional connection, of the diversity of projects. She mentioned that one of the easiest ways to choose projects is to go with an IP based on a bestseller “that works globally and connects,” she highlighted. She explained that MGM is about to announce its first Latin American series in Spanish.

Davis commented that something that had changed during the pandemic was the international expansion of streamers. She highlighted that her service StarzPlay, for example, is already in 58 countries worldwide. She explained that the company has the mandate to create multicultural projects, highlighting female diversity talent. This is why they have productions such as P-Valley, High Town, and the film based on the series Blindspot.

To finish, both professionals coincided in that there is no better moment than now to be an executive. Davis detailed that 70% of her C-suite executives are women and this is a reflection of the huge female audience they have.
