MGM and Televisa’s editorial OK! Magazine are launching the first edition of the MGM OK! Awards recognizing the most-famed personalities in Mexican entertainment for the year. The event will take place Oct. 10 at the Plaza Condesa in Mexico City, and will be transmitted on the network Nov. 4 as a special program. Aside from being the official magazine of the American Film Institute (AFI) organized by MGM in the U.S., OK! Reinforces their relationship with more than three years in this trade, also emphasizing the relevance of Mexican productions in the world. “One of MGM’s goals is to have Latino talent recognized and promoted in the U.S., especially Mexican, which is a country that has influenced Latino cinema and that of the U.S” said Mercello Coltro, senior VP and CMO of MGM Networks Latin America. With this award show, we highlight the professionals of diverse categories that have realized an important project. It will be transmitted in Mexico and Latin America to more than 35 million households on Nov. 4”. Katy Segura, editorial director of OK! emphasized that it’s the first editorial magazine “that has an alliance with a TV channel like MGM, and the fact that it has a click in the U.S. is important to us because it allows us to enter into the world of Hollywood. We also want to take back the glamour that’s missing from the award shows in Mexico”.
