The presentation of protocols by Canacine and the integrity of the companies responsible for this activity bore fruit: Claudia Sheinbaum, Head of the government of Mexico City, authorized movie theaters to open starting August 12, which is why 997 screens —the seventh part of existing ones in the entire country— are able to start activities with sanitary measures.

Safety protocols require theaters to open with 30% of their capability, with 40% of ventilation with the outdoor flow, frequent cleaning, and free, one-and-a-half-meter space between seats.

Sheinbaum said it would be allowed to sell foods at the movie theaters, changing the decision announced weeks earlier. “Movie theaters have presented very finished protocols”— she said. Theaters, however, still do not have permission to open.

Mexico City continues in orange light. They will allow bars, canteens, joints, and party rooms change to become restaurants. Pools and museums may also open.
