In an agreement reached between Mexican media conglomerate Grupo Multimedios and Cablevision, the nation’s fifth-largest cable TV operator, Mexico’s third-largest TV network, Multimedios TV, is now available to Cablevision subscribers in the New York tri-state area. Broadcasting news, entertainment, sports, fashion and children’s programming from its home base in Mexico’s industrial capital of Monterrey, Multimedios TV is a ratings powerhouse in northern Mexico and is highly sought-after by Hispanics living in the U.S. Responsive to its customers, Cablevision has chosen Multimedios TV as a key part of its expanded Spanish-language offerings to its growing Hispanic subscriber base. In addition to Multimedios TV, the agreement gives Cablevision the right to carry all three Multimedios Networks channels including – 24/7 Mexican news network Milenio Television, and Regional Mexican Music channel TeleRitmo. "Over 63% of Hispanics are of Mexican origin, and Multimedios, one of the best sources of broadcast quality programming from Mexico, is extremely pleased to partner with Cablevision in reaching so many families in the New York tri-state area,” said Gustavo Mena, a former distribution executive at CBS Cable and Telemundo/NBC who handles Multimedios’ cable and satellite distribution in the U.S., in a statement. Cablevision joins the growing list of Multimedios Networks distribution partners that include Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications, Charter Communications, AT&T U-verse and Verizon FiOS TV.
