The connection that NBC Deportes is seeking in the coverage of the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro will be in different levels. The most essential one is the technological one. However, the emotional connection is the bet for Hispanics to live a great experience through the athletes that represent them and raise their colors.”We will depict more than 100 athletes. We’ll tell their stories and each step they take in the event. We will show the human side of the Olympics” told PRODU Eli Velázquez, executive VP at NBC Deportes. Some of the Hispanic athletes they will portray are: Paola Espinosa, from Mexico; Erick Barrondo, from Guatemala and Mariana Pajón, from Colombia. The technological connection will be vital to broadcast in an period like this one. “It will be our best deployment and our best integration. For the first time we will be on Telemundo and NBCUniversal, integrating them with all their digital platforms, including social networks. We are more coordinated and connected than ever”.More than 200 people will work on the coverage, between Miami and Brazil. In Miami new studios were provided to offer the best possible content between analysis and special briefs. In Brazil, there will be studios on the beaches of Copacabana and a team of reporters and commentators touring the indispensable spots of the event. This time, schedules are favorable for broadcasts like never before. NBC´s priority will be soccer, which will be aired on prime time, and boxing. “We are focused on what the Hispanic audience loves”.
