Olympusat, Inc. has acquired Guillermo Calderón’s library of classic Spanish-language motion pictures for restoration and broadcast to across all platforms available.Olympusat’s Film Restoration department, which has been restoring hundreds of classic movies for nearly four years, is bringing iconic Mexican films back to life from the 40’s 50’s and 60’s from Calderón’s library, including classics such as La Aventurera (1950) starring late Cuban iconic actress Ninon Sevilla, La Ilegítima (1956) and La Rondalla (1949). The 35mm films, optically scanned to 2k, are restored frame by frame to their original luster. “It’s painstaking work. After all these decades, the films are in pretty bad shape,” said Jim Wicks, senior colorist and manager of Film Restoration Services at Olympusat. “We are giving them new life and bringing them to a new audience of film fans in the 21st Century.”
