Pasiones has entered into an agreement with Sony Pictures Television to acquire the rights to three hit telenovelas: El Zorro: La Espada y La Rosa (Zorro: The Sword and the Rose), Doña Bárbara (Lady Barbara) and La Prepago (The Escort) for its US cable network. El Zorro, a U.S. cable television premiere, debuted on Pasiones on Tuesday, February 17, and will air Monday through Friday at 6pm ET/3pm PT. “This deal with Sony reinforces our commitment to deliver top-quality telenovelas and series with proven success records across Latin America to our viewers,” said Francisco Giménez, general manager of cable networks for Hemisphere Media Group, Pasiones’ parent company. Peruvian heartthrob Christian Meier brings to life El Zorro (Zorro: The Sword and The Rose), which follows a noble 19th century Spanish-American aristocrat who must choose between his masked identity as Zorro or revealing his true identity to the woman he loves, Esmeralda Sánchez de Moncada (Marlene Favela), and risk losing everything. A co-production of Sony Pictures Television and RTI Colombia for Telemundo, El Zorro has aired in more than 40 countries across Latin America, Europe and Africa. Doña Bárbara is a co-production between Sony Pictures Television and RTI Colombia for Telemundo. Inspired by a true story, La Prepago is the story of a woman living a double life—one as a beautiful university student with a normal love life and family, and the other as a high-class escort who’s paid to satisfy her clients’ appetites—whose destiny will forever change when both of her worlds collide. La Prepago is produced by Sony Pictures Television. Premiere dates for Doña Bárbara and La Prepago will be announced.
