Pepe Bastón and Poncho Angoitia join the board of directors of Imagina

Pepe Bastón, president of Television and Contents of Televisa, and Alfonso de Angoitia, executive VP of Grupo Televisa, will occupy two seats on the board of directors of Grupo Imagina as a result from the Televisa acquisition of 14.5% Imagina stock. The board is composed by 12 directors, two of which are now Mexican.For over 10 years, Televisa has maintained a friendship and a partnership with Grupo Globomedia, of which Imagina is part. In the restructuring, Televisa gives up its 40.8% interest in La Sexta in exchange for 14.5% of the Imagina Group. It is seen as another step in Televisa’s international strategy of partnering with the best. Imagina owns TV channels in the U.S., production houses in different countries around the region, and a team of executives that has grown the company in recent years.The press release issued by the group’s Corporate Communications office, says that under the terms of the agreement, the deal strengthens the possible synergies and value creation opportunities for both Televisa and Imagina. The deal also includes commercial agreements for possible co-production of content. Similarly, the deal grants Televisa first right for the acquisition of certain formats and audiovisual content as well as broadcast rights of sporting events in certain territories.
