Once again, la Gala del Público de Premios PRODU was a party. With 84 award-winning categories, interviews with talents from all over the region – both in front of and behind the camera -, and homages, these two days served to corroborate and confirm the excellent moment that the Ibero-American audiovisual industry is experiencing.

This year there were hosts from the entire region. Andrea Serna, Caracol TV; Jasmine Pinedo, America TV; Laura Fernández and Felipe Colombo from the studio in Buenos Aires; and Alan Tacher, TelevisaUnivision, and Jimena Gállego, Telemundo from Mediapro Studios in Miami.

For the first time, the Kantar IBOPE Media Audience Phenomenon Award was presented, and the winner was the Kid’s Choice Awards in Mexico. Santa Evita (Star+, Hulu/Star Original Productions, Non-Stop, Ventanarosa) won the Fiction Grand Prize, and ¿Quién es la Máscara? 3 (Las Estrellas/TelevisaUnivision, EndemolShine Boomdog) received the Entertainment Grand Prize.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was also bestowed to the journalist, writer, and television presenter María Celeste Arrarás, and the Mexican actress and producer Karla Souza was recognized with the Crossover Award for those Latinos who succeed in Hollywood.

Regarding fiction, the most awarded were Santa Evita with 6 awards, El Rey, Vicente Fernández with 5, El Marginal 5, Pálpito and La Verdad (The Trusted) with 3, Primate, Iosi, El Espía Arrepentido and El Primero de Nosotros with 2.

The country with the most awards was Mexico, with 30, followed by Argentina with 21, Spain with 14, the US with 10, and Colombia with 6.

“I am super excited after 20 hours of this majestic event, a party, a unique celebration of our Ibero-American industry, and with great hosts. More than 100 people are behind all this, yesterday we kicked off with the threat of a hurricane, there were tears and stress, and today the transmission has been very fluid, we have been from country to country and reached Qatar. Everything that is happening with the Ibero-American industry is really impressive,” said Richard Izarra, president of PRODU.

He assured that new categories will be included next year “because it is the industry itself that asks for it.”

“Thanks to the entire industry, it is an honor and a great responsibility to carry the flag of this great talent that never ceases to impress us. I think this is a unique celebration bringing together talent from so many countries and that is what satisfies me the most,” added Roko Izarra, director of PRODU.

The host Alan Tacher stressed that these are the only awards that allow participants to talk about their projects.
