Ángela Vergara, the company’s new general director

In 2009 Sony Pictures Television acquired 50% of Colombian production house Teleset to increase its production capacity in Latin America and the U.S. Hispanic market. Today it was announced that SPT signed a deal last year to acquire the remaining stake and now fully owns Teleset. Ángela Vergara, the company’s new general director, in an exclusive interview to PRODU shortly after her appointment announced the plan for Teleset for 2014. These include continuing with the exclusivity deal with RCN –with some adjustments-, finish shooting El Mariachi and En La Boca Del Lobo, and finishing construction of the new Teleset offices in Mexico City. She added that although she’s taking control of the company founded by José Antonio de Brigard in 1995, he is staying with Teleset and will be in charge of finding and creating new content; a plan he will soon set in motion by visiting several Latin American countries in search of stories for both markets.Vergara will based out of Bogota, but will frequently travel to Mexico to oversee the company’s efforts to conquer the market, not just with series, but also with other types of formats that will strengthen Teleset’s international offer.
