Sony Pictures Television (SPT) announced Time is Money is coming to Latin America. The format, for which SPT has acquired global rights, is the latest in a series of physical game show formats that SPT has taken to market in the region.

Time is Money was previously produced by TBS in Japan as 26 Hours. The ingenious studio-based format sees a panel of celebrities and contestants performing an array of “life-hacks” that could gain a person an extra two hours every day. Some are brilliant, some are extremely messy or silly, but all are designed to improve lives. The celebrities judge one another’s hacks, rewarding a yes or no, and the celeb hack that has the most yes’s is chosen to be the “Star Hack.”

The rebooted format will be developed in Mexico and Colombia by SPT Latin America, in Germany by SPT Germany, and in the UK by East Media, part of The Whisper Group, which SPT acquired in February 2020.

“We are thrilled to have acquired the option for Time is Money, the latest of our robust physical game show offerings in Latin America,” said Selina Nederhand, SVP, Content Strategy, and Acquisitions at Sony Pictures Television. “The family-friendly format couldn’t be timelier as everyone is at home looking for ways to make their lives easier. We’re excited to bring it to our Spanish-speaking audiences in the region.”

SPT’s other physical game show offerings in the region include Small Fortune and Can’t Touch This.
