Aurelio Valcárcel, executive VP of Production at Telemundo Studios spoke to PRODU about Marido en Alquiler, the new Telemundo telenovela starring Sonya Smith, Maritza Rodríguez and Juan Soler, which just kicked off production. This is the first time Telemundo in Miami co-produces with Brazil’s Globo. “For us it’s an excellent experience because it is a co-production with Globo, which, in my opinion, is the best producer in the world. We’ve learned a lot, and they’re impressed with what they’ve seen. This will have an added value that will come through our screen,” said Valcárcel.Fina Estampa, the original story by Brazilian writer Aguinaldo Silva, aired in Brazil two years ago. It has now been adapted to Spanish by scriptwriter Perla Farías. “It’s a story of real characters made of bones and flesh, we’re not resorting to fiction. It’s a story that will definitely strike a nerve because it’s loaded with emotion, and that emotion transcends the screen,” he added.Brazilian and Venezuelan directors Claudio Callao and Nicolás Diblasi are leading Marido en alquiler. With regards to locations, the production will offer audiences a novel look. “The story takes place in Miami. We’ve adapted the north side of Hollywood Beach in Broward County. It is a beautiful area with an architecture that is classic and romantic, which definitely gives the novela a very different look,” added Valcárcel.
