As the official U.S. Network of León, Telemundo has obtained exclusive rights to air in the U.S. all the home games for the Mexican first division soccer team. The network will be disseminating game coverage through all platforms, including online and cable broadcast. The first match to air in light of the new deal with Telemundo will be Club León versus Chivas Friday Sept. 14 at 10:30pm, and will be followed by all of the pre-season, regular season and the playoff home games, if the team qualifies. “Coming off a great performance with the 2012 London Olympics and having acquired the rights to the FIFA World Cup starting in 2015, this multi-year deal expands our portfolio of soccer properties and reaffirms Telemundo Media’s leadership position” said Jorge Hidalgo, executive VP of Sports at Telemundo Media. “With the León games, our audience will continue to enjoy the best professional Mexican soccer they’ve come to expect from Deportes Telemundo”.
