TeletónUSA inaugurated the first Children’s Rehabilitation Institute of in San Antonio, Texas

TeletónUSA inaugurated the first Children’s Rehabilitation Institute of TeletónUSA (CRIT USA) in San Antonio, Texas. The CRIT facility is funded by the more than US$30 million raised by TeletónUSA mostly through its promotion and annual 28-hour telethon’s airing on the Univision Network and the various other platforms of Univision Communications Inc. CRIT USA is the first U.S. rehabilitation center for children built by Teletón. With the first day of operations on Monday, November 10, 2014, CRIT Texas will treat patients and their family members regardless of insurance situation, immigration status, nationality, race, gender or ethnicity, and will heavily subsidize the cost of care for families. The heartfelt ceremony was emceed by Univision Network’s Alan Tacher and Teresa Rodríguez, with special guest appearances by actress Eva Longoria; president of Grupo Televisa, Emilio Azcárraga Jean; president and CEO of Univision Communications Inc., Randy Falco; Chairman of Univision Communications Inc., Haim Saban; president of Television and Content at Grupo Televisa, José “Pepe” Antonio Bastón; president of the Teletón Foundation, Fernando Landeros; and president of Programming and Content of Univision Communications Inc., Alberto Ciurana. In addition, singers Luis Coronel and Aleks Syntek sang the U.S. National Anthem and TeletónUSA Anthem respectively. Generous donations of $1 million each were announced by Haim Saban and by Alonso Ancira, president of the Children’s Rehabilitation Foundation.
