Turner Latin America announced that Angel Zambrano, senior Contents and Union VP, will leave the company mid-February. Part of his responsibilities will be assumed by Andrés Mendoza, new Executive Director of Acquisitions. Mendoza will be based in Miami and will report to Tomas Yankelevich, EVP & Chief Content Officer, General Entertainment.
With an 18-year career path in the company, Zambrano joined Turner after working at Claxson as Content Acquisition VP. The executive formed a centralized acquisitions department under his leadership and then expanded his team to include four other departments in charge of supervising content acquisition, planning, development and syndication for the company´s diverse channel portfolio.
“The huge dedication that Angel offered the company throughout these years, made Turner Latin America position itself into what it is today: the most important multimedia company in the region,” highlighted Yankelevich, after stating that they brought the most outstanding formats of global TV, carried out great acquisitions and content co-production agreements with companies such as Universal, Televisa, and Disney, among others”.
Mendoza comes from Univision, which he joined in 2012. Since 2014 he performed there as VP of Programming & Strategy UniMás Network, having under his responsibility UniMás’ content strategy. Together with acquisitions, he was also responsible for the development of original contents together with partners like Televisa, Sony Pictures Television, Caracol Televisión and Cisneros Media.
