Univision restructures its sales team

Univision Communications Inc. restructured its sales team enabling the Company to more effectively pursue new business across all platforms while continuing to serve its existing client base. The announcement was made by Keith Turner, president of Sales & Marketing. The restructuring is part of a continuing effort by Univision to not only maintain and strengthen relationships with its current client base, but it also opens paths to attract new business and expand its client roster with a focus on not only Univision’s successful television network but also its growing lineup of additional platforms, including Digital, Cable, Local TV and Radio. “This new structure places an emphasis on new business development while also adding efficiencies that will serve both new and existing clients.The restructuring enables us to take better advantage of the momentum we have,” Turner said. In conjunction with the announcement, Univision has named Steve Mandala executive vice president, Advertising Sales. Mandala spent five years as EVP, Cable Entertainment Ad Sales at NBC Universal after eight years as senior vice president/Telemundo Network Sales & Marketing and Affiliate Relations. Mandala will oversee Univision’s Client Development Group along with Sports Sales and Direct Response advertising. In addition to Mandala, Turner’s direct reports under the new structure are: Laura Molen (EVP, Network Sales), Roberto Ruiz (SVP, Brand Solutions Team), Mark Dante (EVP, Station Group Sales), Charlie Echeverry (EVP, Interactive Sales) and Lee Davis (EVP, Radio Sales). Ruiz will assume leadership of Univision’s Brand Solutions Team, whose scope will be expanded to serve as a resource for the entire Company. Lisa McCarthy, former EVP of the Client Development Group, has left to form her own consulting business, while Graciela Eleta, former SVP of Brand Solutions, will transition to provide consulting to Univision.
