Univision to launch English-language channel from its building in Miami in September of 2013

January 17, 2013

From its own building now in construction in Miami, the new English language channel, a venture by Univision and ABC, geared toward Hispanics in the U.S. is set to launch in September of 2013, according to Isaac Lee, president of News at Univision Networks. He indicated that the new channel, which still hasn’t been named, is being formed by three members of ABC and three from Univision. ABC will be in charge of distribution and commercialization, and Univision predominantly will be in charge of content. The channel will count on all of ABC’s international news bureaus as well as with the Univision’s local teams in the U.S. The channel will be directed toward the young population of Hispanics in the U.S. who speak English as their first language, and within that audience, Lee says they have no competition.
