ViendoMovies will sponsor the 38th edition of the 2021 Miami Film Festival, supporting films produced in Spanish that will be presented at the event. The event begins on March 5 and ends on March 14.

Under normal circumstances, the event is a film and talent festivity that fills the city of Miami with a celebratory atmosphere. Due to the pandemic, the festival will have a different logistic transmitting the films in a hybrid format, with presentations in both theater and online. For the opening and closing night, the Festival will present two world premieres of Miami artists: Ludi by Edson Jean and Birthright by Jayme Gershen.

This year the festival brings together a large collection of Ibero-American and non-Hispanic films, with the assistance of international talent in a virtual way. On this occasion, awards will be given to the director Pedro Almodóvar; icon Rita Moreno; actors Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal), Javier Cámara (El Olvido Que Se Puede), Aldis Hodge (One Night in Miami), and Andra Day (The United States vs Billie Holiday); and will celebrate with more than 100 feature films, documentaries and short films of all genres, from 40 different countries.

“For us, it is tradition to sponsor this event that occurs in the community where we work and live. The film industry is in our business essence first with our movie channel ViendoMovies and our productions in SOMOS Films. The Miami Film Festival has been growing every year, and even in these difficult circumstances, it has managed to maintain the continuity of the event, for which we congratulate the organizers. As far as the audience is concerned, we hope they enjoy this special celebration,” said Luis Villanueva, president, and CEO of SOMOSTV.

ViendoMovies has as its strategy to support the events where Spanish cinema participates, promoting talent and works that come from an industry that has positively impacted the market. The channel also schedules, as part of this strategy, cycles with actors and actresses preferred by its audience and special programming dedicated to genres or festivities. Coverage of the Festivals is also common on the channel.
