Starting this month, viewers in Mexico will have access to the breadth and depth of factual entertainment in one destination with the launch of documentary linear channel and on-demand service CuriosityStream on Totalplay, a Grupo Salinas company and a leader in the telecommunications market in Mexico. The service will be available to Totalplay’s subscribers beginning Monday, September 23rd.

The streaming service launched by John Hendricks, the visionary founder of Discovery Channel, offers viewing options across a full category of factual entertainment that includes science, history, technology, nature, society, and lifestyle.

CuriosityStream boasts a growing library of thousands of titles including original films and series not available anywhere else, like the Emmy Award-winning docuseries Stephen Hawking’s Favorite Places and the upcoming El Poder del Sonido (The Power of Sound), a documentary which CuriosityStream produces with Mexico’s M31 Medios. The 4K production explores the incredible hearing abilities found in some species of the animal kingdom, and it is filmed entirely in Mexico.

“CuriosityStream’s launch today in Mexico with Totalplay marks a significant milestone as we share our comprehensive and entertaining non-fiction series and documentaries with the important Latin American audience. We are excited to collaborate with Totalplay as our inaugural distribution partner in Mexico. We look forward to continued success in Mexico and throughout Latin America,” said Clint Stinchcomb, president, and CEO of CuriosityStream.

“At Totalplay we are continuously innovating to be the best entertainment option in the country; we are very happy to add CuriosityStream to our value offering, for this will allow our customers to enjoy even more and better content of the highest quality”, said Hugo Adrián Hernández, Content Acquisition & Programming director for Totalplay.

The agreement to launch CuriosityStream was brokered by content distribution firm Simma Media.

CuriosityStream is available worldwide to watch on television sets, desktop computers, mobile and tablets. CuriosityStream can be found in Mexico on Totalplay.
