Parks Associates OTT Spend

Spending on OTT services in the US increased from US$8 million in the third quarter of 2018, to US$16 million at the end of the first quarter of 2020, according to a study conducted by Parks Associates, a consulting firm specializing in consumer technology market research.

This increase means that spending on OTT services in the US doubled between late 2018 and early 2020.

It is interesting to note that these findings where collected just since the beginning of the confinement by the coronavirus, when multiple streaming platforms such as HBO Max, Peacock, Paramount+, Discovery+, among others, had not yet been launched. Also, the study does not include the acceleration in the growth in subscriptions of existing ones such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video or Disney+.

This is why for the results of 2021 it is very likely that the figure will rise considerably.
