IDW signed a development agreement with the Latin American animation studio Ánima, and their first project together is an animated series for adults, based on IDW Publishing’s Brutal Nature comics.

Brutal Nature is about a young man who transforms into different beasts and monsters using a collection of masks. With these powers, he will join the fight of the Colombian indigenous people against the Spanish Empire to defend against their land invasion.

The comics were created by Luciano Saracino and Ariel Olivetti. Fernando De Fuentes and José C. García de Letona will be producers along with the IDW team, according to Variety.

IDW Entertainment has developed other comics for the screen such as Netflix’s Locke & Key and Apple TV+’s Surfside Girls, while Ánima has produced content such as Aztec Batman: Clash of empires, Legend Quest, Space Chickens in Space, among others.
