Canal Once revealed their programming strategy for the Rio Olympic Games to begin on Friday August 5, which they will cover daily with special programs, led by Javier Solórzano. The signal joins Canal 22, Claro Sports, FOX Sports and ESPN, for the broadcast of this sports event in Mexico.”We had already aired the Olympic Winter Games. This is the first time we air the summer games. We have an alliance with Claro Sports, who will give us the contents and we will offer our screen. It is an opportunity that we didn’t have as a TV station and, regarding contents, it is a good strategy to include the audience that is not familiar with the signal. We are diversifying and assuming an interesting challenge,” explained Mayolo Reyes, Development and Strategy director at Canal Once.Reyes highlighted the daily coverage they will have to “cover the competitions live, with Olympic presence all day, and at night, the summary El Once en Río, with the most relevant moments of each competition, combined with topics like economy, politics, culture and society. The morning news, conducted by Javier Solórzano, will be shot live from Rio. To end, he said they will have no commercialization since it is a public TV station. There will only be mentions at the beginning and end, “with companies that support the coverage. In this sense, we will continue to be loyal to the essence of the channel.”
