At the exit of the panel “FAST, personalized and qualified channels: a multiple approach to capture audiences”, in the context of MIP Cancun 2023, Felipe Osorio, SVP of Content Verticals at Canela Media, highlighted that although related media such as Pluto TV and TV Azteca are following a “similar path”, his company distinguishes itself by making content designed for the Spanish-speaking community.

“We are a platform that was born from Latinos and is designed for Latinos. Since we started from scratch, and we are not any big brand or anything, we created an experience that addresses what is culturally relevant to Latin American audiences. That is reflected in our genres and the way we curate content” he assured.

Canela TV has franchises such as Secretos, which include Secretos de las Indomables and Secretos de Villanas, which now have a second season. In the musical genre, they created Rising Notes, where they depict artists who are beginning to stand out, and in kids they launched Súper Ellas, in which they celebrate Latina women who have had important accomplishments.

Osorio explained that for 2024 they will continue to place their focus on this type of programming and on promoting series in the scope of documentaries and sports. Likewise, they are evaluating the possibility of revolutionizing newscasts: “I think that in Latin America and US Hispanic, the news offer is not so varied. It is almost always the same characters, so there is an interesting blank space to do something in the future”.
