Comcast launches NBC Universo in HD on Xfinity TV across West Division markets

NBC Universo announced that Comcast has launched NBC Universo in HD. Subscribers on Xfinity TV across Comcast’s West Division markets will be able to enjoy edgy entertainment, blockbuster movies, and many of the world’s top sports franchises in Spanish, telecast in brilliant high definition.NBC Universo in HD is now available to millions of Xfinity TV households in California (San Jose, San Francisco, Oakland, Sacramento, Fresno and Stockton); Colorado (Denver, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins and Greeley); New Mexico (Albuquerque and Santa Fe); Seattle; Portland, Ore.; Salt Lake City; Tucson, Ariz.; Minneapolis/St. Paul and Houston.“NBC Universo is championing the effort to bring Latinos the world-class sports and modern, edgy entertainment they want and deserve, and watching this compelling content in HD is important to themLatinos are of paramount importance to Comcast, and by airing NBC UNIVERSO in HD, Xfinity TV is helping to bring a great viewing experience to many more U.S. Hispanic households,” said Rubén Mendiola, president, NBC Universo. Earlier this year, satellite provider DIRECTV began airing NBC Universo in HD to coincide with the network’s re-launch on February 1, 2015, the day the channel was the exclusive home to Super Bowl XLIX in Spanish. Cox Communications is in the process of rolling out NBC Universo in HD; and this past spring, Bright House Networks also launched NBC Universo in HD. The network continues to work on rolling out additional HD carriage.
