(Maribel Ramos-Weiner). According to the outgoing president of Telemundo, Don Browne, the new owners have a solid team of executives from where to choose a successor.“Jackie Hernández is a very viable candidate, but there are several people that also deserve a place on the internal shortlist. This is a very solid team: Marcos Santana, who leads our international team, is a fantastic executive; Ronald Gordon, who is in charge of our Stations Group, is wonderful; Javier Maynulet, our CFO, is one of those unsung heroes; and another executive that does not get enough credit is Derek Bond. If there is a person responsible for the success we have had, that is Derek Bond,” said Browne to PRODU.Browne is certain there are much better things in store for Telemundo with the new owners.“Steve Burke truly believes in Telemundo. He is excited about this property and very proud of what the company has. He believes Telemundo is one of the great success stories of NBC. He has also made it very clear that he views Telemundo as an important part of a bigger catalog. Comcast intends to invest. They are great strategists, have a long-term focus, and understand Telemundo’s potential,” added Browne.Browne showed pride in his achievement of diversifying Telemundo’s senior staff. “When NBC bought the company, all executives were non-Hispanic males. I’m leaving the company with a senior staff that is 80% of Hispanic and 40% female.
