El Último Rey: el Hijo del Pueblo about the life of Vicente Fernández reached 8 million in its premiere on Las Estrellas

TelevisaUnivision’s controversial bioseries about the life of Mexican singer Vicente Fernández premiered this past Monday the 14th on Las Estrellas at 8:30pm in Mexico with great viewership results.

The debut of El Último Rey: el Hijo del Pueblo (The Last King: The Son of the People) reached more than 8 million in a range of 28 cities in Mexico, according to Nielsen IBOPE Mexico.

It’s a series based on the book “El Último Rey” written by the journalist Olga Wornat, in which she portrays important passages in the life of Vicente Fernández, from his difficult childhood and the beginning of his career, to his moments of greatest success and critical events that affected the Fernández family.

A focus group conducted with people who saw the first episode, confirmed that the dramatic strength of the plot, the performances and high production values of the series met the expectations of the fans of the music icon.

Juan Osorio, producer of the series, highlighted that it is a tribute to one of the greatest music figures. “A Mexican whose talent and charisma transcended borders.” He also pointed out that the script complies with the journalistic investigation carried out by Olga Wornat and an objective and respectful tone is used.
