ESPN is deploying a huge production effort for the Pan Am Games, which start July 10th in Toronto, Canada.“We have organized the biggest production plans that we have ever arranged. What makes this all so big is that almost all of ESPN´s platforms will somehow be involved in the production of this event”, explained to PRODU María Soares, senior coordinating producer, ESPN International & ESPN Deportes. She added that it is a great effort deployed in Toronto in order to look after all of ESPN´s business units. “We will have around 200 people working in the International Broadcasting Center, in the studio area and in the field. 25 of our talents are among those people.”For ESPN Deportes they will produce around 200 hours of coverage; and for ESPN in English, 66 hours. All the live content will be aired on ESPN 3, which represents around 500 hours and 12 hours live per day for ESPN Radio.“I think one of the biggest challenges in coordinating this production is not only that all the ESPN groups are participating, but also that each group is covering a great deal. For example, the IBC is working 18 hours a day. All of these groups are working simultaneously and it is a huge challenge to manage that amount of content”, she expressed.
