Eugenio Derbez stays with Televisa but without contract

According to Eugenio Derbez, he will stay with Televisa but without a contract. The actor, writer and director who grew up within Televisa, now has an independent film career in the U.S. Hispanic and general markets.“I’m with Pantelion,” he said. The company is a joint venture between Televisa and Lionsgate, dedicated to producing films for movie theater chains in the U.S. and Mexico. Instructions Not Included, recent full-length feature film written, directed and starred in by Derbez, became the highest grossing Hispanic film in the U.S.Televisa had previously announced that Derbez would not participate in this World Cup. He has traditionally been part of these tournaments as a comedian sent along with the Televisa team.“I’m still with Televisa, but in a different fashion. This has always been my home, but I no longer have exclusivity,” said Derbez.He resides in Los Angeles and continues to produce movies for Pantelion, as well as other projects in English.Earlier this year, it was Derbez who introduced Emilio Azcárraga at Natpe’s Tartikoff Award. He was also part of the Univision upfront in New York, where he played a sketch with Alberto Ciurana, president of Programming and Content of Univision Networks.
