Globo’s international channel signed an agreement with Cox Communications, the third largest cable TV operator in the United States, for distribution in Rhode Island. Starting this month, Brazilians and other Portuguese-language communities in the region will be able to accompany the Brazilian broadcaster’s programming, which includes its famous telenovelas, TV series, journalistic programs and sports and soccer, transmitted 24 hours a day, totally in Portuguese. The significant presence of Brazilians and Portuguese in the region was the main stimulus for distribution of a channel with quality content from Brazil. With the agreement, Globo’s international channel will be available for subscription as a Premium a la carte option with Cox Communications. The company also offers cable, Internet and telephone services. This is the seventeenth cable/DTH/IPTV operator that has sealed a partnership with Globo’s international channel in the United States. The expectation is that, soon, Globo will expand to new regions.
